Marshes are a plain with water flooding its surface. Marshes are dominated by grasses, cattails, and reeds. These plants
easily adapt to a wet environment and need water to saturate their roots. Marshes could be composed of salt or fresh water. The same types of animals inhabit the salt and fresh water bogs.
Muskrats eat the vegitation in the marshes and create patches of water. The other types of plant and aniaml life are similar to the other types of wetlands (bogs). Perhaps the most famous marsh
is the Everglades. The Everglades is a salt water marsh that gets filled by the water from percipitation and melted snow. Marshes provide a winter home for frogs, muskrats, aquatic insects, geese and ducks.
